Looks great but falls a little short

Ordered a few items in the sale. Got the next size up ready for the cooler months. Son currently wears 5-6 so brought size 6-7. It looked quite big but as its a sweatshirt I decided to wash it and have a spare for our holidays over the summer. Once it was out of the wash I could see it was visibly smaller. It does fit him but only for now and not for the timescale I was hoping to get out of it. I'm relieved I didn't buy the size smaller. The fabric and style is beautiful. We brought the shorts to match but they are definitely too big at the moment and keeping fingers crossed they also don't shrink when its time to wear them.
